Scotland
Scotland is an interesting destination for a photographer. The natural landscape resembles that of Norway, yet it also has its own unique character. Norway is primarily a country of magnificent landscapes. In Scotland, however, you’ll find a blend of culture, history, and stunning scenery. The rugged mountains of the Scottish Highlands are a true paradise for landscape photographers. There are also some 800 islands, making the coastline seem almost endless. In fact, the entire coastline is over 16,000 kilometers long. This offers many opportunities for coastal photography. Beautiful landscapes where sea meets land, as well as all sorts of seabirds and other marine life, can be subjects. Old castles are also photographically interesting. Many of these castles were built over 500 years ago and, in their often somewhat dilapidated state, often seem to be part of nature.
I’ve been to Scotland many times, but usually for work. In the spring of 2019, I took a trip of almost two weeks to take photos. Far too short, of course, to give a good photographic impression of this country. I’ll undoubtedly have to go back in the coming years to fill this photo page a bit more.
